APEC in Lima:
SOM1, Day 7

In the context of the First Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM 1) and related meetings, the Lima Convention Center welcomed delegations from the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies for the seventh consecutive day.

Technical groups engaged in discussions spanning topics related to digital economy, technology and innovation, along with opportunities and challenges for mutual recognition of professional services within APEC.

In coordination with Peru’s National Council for Science, Technology and Technological Innovation – CONCYTEC, APEC’s Policy Partnership on Science, Technology, and Innovation (PPSTI) attended the Museum of Natural History of the National University of San Marcos (MHN-UNMSM). There, they visited the paleontological exhibition featuring Perucetus Colossus, a colossal Peruvian whale that lived approximately 39 million years ago, considered the heaviest animal in the history of Earth.

The visit also provided the delegation with unique insights into Peru’s rich biological diversity showcased at the UNMSM herbarium museum and other specialized departments focusing on vertebrates and entomology.
