APEC in Lima:
SOM1, Day 11

The eleventh day of meetings for delegations from the 21 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economies unfolded today as part of the First Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM1) and related meetings.

On this date, committees and working groups delved into critical issues related to trade and investment, business formalization, and artificial intelligence, among others.

Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (MINCETUR) emphasized the importance of promoting women’s economic empowerment through commerce, presenting advancements on a project aimed at consolidating experiences across all 21 APEC economies.

MINCETUR further proposed a joint dialogue to promote inclusive trade in the formalization process of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Ambassador Carlos Vásquez, President of the APEC Peru 2024 Senior Officials Meetings, stated that “the formalization of economic actors within APEC economies is one of the main objectives Peru seeks to achieve.”
