Lima celebrates the start of the APEC Peru 2024 year
- The Historic Center was transformed into a spectacle full of color, highlighting the great cultural diversity of the country.
As part of the official launch of APEC Peru 2024 on December 4 at the Government Palace, the exhibition “Peruvian Beauty” was unveiled. This captivating display features over forty portraits taken by Peruvian photographer Yayo López. The exhibition aims to underscore the crucial role of women in Peruvian society, showcasing their ethnic and cultural diversity. Through an enriching perspective, it offers a glimpse into the intricate social fabric of Peru.
Delegates from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies participated in this presentation, which took place as part of the APEC Informal Senior Officials’ Meeting (ISOM).
During their visit, the delegates enjoyed a vibrant showcase of Peruvian dances and a parade that traversed Jirón Ucayali. The parade featured participants carrying posters highlighting APEC, aiming to inform citizens about our upcoming hosting of APEC in 2024.
The APEC Citizen Peru 2024 initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the APEC forum and the general public. The main goal is to integrate activities and address issues that directly align with the needs of the population. In the coming year, a variety of events, including technological and cultural programs, presentations in educational institutions, and more, will be organized. These initiatives are designed to enhance public awareness and understanding of the significance of APEC, emphasizing its role in improving the quality of life within member economies.
The photo exhibition will be open to the public until January 7, 2024, at the Inca Garcilaso Cultural Center – Jr. Ucayali 391, Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, Sunday, and holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
