The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday evening affirmed that Peru assumes the Presidency of the 2024 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum with great responsibility, noting that the event will focus on the integration of people into the global economy.

During the launch of the APEC Peru 2024 presidency, held at the Government Palace in Lima, the Head of State affirmed that the aim is to provide citizens with the necessary tools for their own empowerment.

Moreover, she emphasized that the main theme of this important forum, to be hosted by Peru, where more than 160 meetings will be held, will be “Empower, Include, and Grow.”

“APEC Peru will focus on people and how to provide them with the necessary tools for their empowerment and integration into the global economy; therefore, the theme will be ‘empower, include and grow’ —three core objectives for the development of our populations,” she underlined.

“The trust placed on Peru is a source of pride for the country. You can rest assured we will put our greatest effort into a successful APEC Peru year, since the country is a stable economy that is making its way in the midst of global challenges as it is committed to dialogue, cooperation and mutual understanding,” the Peruvian dignitary added.

In her speech, the top official highlighted that this important international event, to be held next year, will strengthen cooperation among member economies, so that economic progress and development can reach more people.

“Today, gathered at the Government Palace, the home of all Peruvians, with great joy and pride, I am pleased to begin the APEC Peru year and the more than 160 meetings that will be held in the country,” President Boluarte said while welcoming visitors from the world’s major economies.
