APEC PERU 2024 participates in the award: “Good Practices for the Efficient and Responsible Use of Energy”
On December 20, as part of the celebration of National Energy Saving Day, Minister Renato Reyes Tagle, Peru Senior Official for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, participated in the award ceremony to recognize preschool, primary, and secondary educational institutions, whose students won the annual contest of “Good practices for the efficient and responsible use of energy”.
This event, organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), aims to recognize the achievements of students from various educational institutions, who through diverse artistic and creative platforms (painting, comics, and advertising spots) captured the importance of the efficient and responsible use of energy, essential areas within the policy priorities that will be promoted during APEC Peru 2024 and that will be aimed at promoting a sustainable growth for resilient development.
In line with the objective of the APEC Citizen Peru 2024 initiative, to bring the benefits of this forum closer to Peruvian civil society, the participation of the Peru Senior Official for APEC in this event was a valuable opportunity to raise awareness and disseminate among students the fundamental role played by APEC in the construction of good practices and the development of successful public policies in the area of use clean energy.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Energy and Mines, international organizations, and APEC member economies, have been working on the development of a roadmap for the implementation of low-emission hydrogen programs in the Asia-Pacific, to contribute to advancing the transition to the use of clean energy in the region. a task that will position Peru as a leader in the promotion of this sector,” said Minister Renato Reyes Tagle, representative of APEC Peru 2024.
The activity was led by the Deputy Minister of Electricity of the MINEM, Jaime Luyo Kuong, and was attended by 140 students, teachers, and directors of the award-winning institutions from Metropolitan Lima and Callao, as well as parents.
